How Registration Works at Pier Nine
At Pier Nine every guest goes through registration before stepping onto the gaming floor. No shortcuts, no workarounds. Whether you are heading straight to blackjack, joining the poker room, or turning up for a karaoke booking, we put everyone through the same process at the door.
We operate under a UK Gambling Commission licence held by Grosvenor Casinos Limited, account number 614. The site is officially recorded as Grosvenor Casino Seafront, 9 Grand Junction Road, Brighton, BN1 1PP, and Brighton and Hove City Council acts as the local licensing authority. Because of that framework, registration is not something we can switch off - it is built directly into how UK-licensed casinos are supposed to run.
You must be at least 18 to enter. Our team is required to ask for valid photo ID if there is any doubt you meet that age, or where Know Your Customer checks apply. We accept a passport, driving licence, or another government-issued photo ID showing your date of birth. Turning up without appropriate ID can mean we are not allowed to let you in.

Registration takes place right at the entrance. We collect your details, check ID where needed, and create or update your membership profile in the Grosvenor system. Once that first visit is done, you are on file, so getting through the door on future nights is usually much faster.
Your First Visit: What Actually Happens at the Door
The door process is fairly quick. It usually only takes a few minutes from walking in to being on the floor.
- Arrive at 9 Grand Junction Road - the front entrance sits directly opposite Brighton Pier on the main seafront.
- Go to the reception desk where our team will greet you and check if you are already a Grosvenor member or registering with us for the first time.
- Confirm that you are 18 or over. If your age is uncertain or KYC checks need to be done, you will be asked for photo ID at this moment.
- Provide your basic personal details: full name, date of birth, and home address. Our staff enter everything into the Grosvenor membership system.
- Once your details are saved, registration is confirmed. Your membership becomes active straightaway. 6 . You can then head inside. From reception you can reach the casino floor, gaming machines, poker room, bars, restaurant, and the various entertainment spaces.
If you are visiting with a group, it is worth planning an extra bit of time. Everyone needs to register one by one, we cannot do it collectively for the entire party in a single go. Reviews on TripAdvisor mention that group visits, especially karaoke room bookings, can run into queues during this part, which can quietly eat into your booked session. Arriving 10 or 15 minutes before your start time is usually the better move.
What Awaits You Once You Are Through
Pier Nine occupies a multi-floor space in a former Art Deco cinema right on Brighton seafront. Inside, we have a traditional casino area, electronic gaming machines, a poker room, several bars, a restaurant, plus private entertainment areas.
On the main casino floor you will find roulette, blackjack and other familiar table games. Our poker room - brought back in May 2021 after pandemic closures - runs tournaments, cash games and various promotional events. Electronic gaming machines are placed alongside or close to the table areas. All gaming on site follows standard UK responsible gambling rules, which is how it works at any licensed casino venue.
Non-gaming time is still a big part of a night at Pier Nine. We offer karaoke rooms for private hire, and bars pouring wines, beers and spirits across different levels of the building. We position the venue around what we call “competitive socialising”. The exact activities included under that description can vary and are not always listed in detail in public booking pages, but the idea is clear: play, food, drink and late-night social time under one roof.
